Description

We aim to be London’s best local authority, delivering excellent services and tackling inequality through innovative programmes that support communities across our whole borough.

In Hackney, we like to do things differently; our large-scale regeneration projects, our campaigning approach on behalf of our citizens, our commitment to sustainability and an inclusive economy.

Our legal service underpins much of what we do, and we need an exceptional local government lawyer to lead the service into the future. As a close adviser to the Mayor and Chief Executive, we expect our new Director to demonstrate strong leadership qualities, integrity and influence. Working across every department, you will provide the highest quality advice to ensure we innovate and take the right risks, pushing boundaries to deliver exceptional services to our residents.

As the Council’s Monitoring Officer, you will also have a direct relationship with elected Members and bring a strong track record of ensuring the very highest standards of governance.

To be successful in this post, you will enjoy leading and collaborating at the heart of a pioneering and ambitious council, serving London’s most diverse and creative borough.
